DUN LAOGHAIRE

During the summer I love to walk down Dun Laoghaire Pier in the afternoon.

Recently I saw a lot of sail boats, one of which was called Top Cat. This brought me back to my childhood when I used to watch a cartoon of the same name about a cat dressed in top hat and waist coat. In the cartoon he was always being chased by a policeman, I recall, but he always managed to stay one step ahead of him. I remember that

he always had a group of cats behind him, ready to do what he wanted. But I don’t think he ever got his clothes wet or dirty! But enough about that.

Another time I saw several boats, all with the same colour cloth sail––a beautiful sight. I can only presume that it was a local sailing club enjoying the sunny evening and calm water.

There are many things about Dun Laoghaire Pier you can enjoy as you walk along. There is a fish and chips stand, and a stand where you can buy ice cream. Coming up to the entrance to the pier there is also a coffee stand where you can enjoy a large cup of coffee with something sweet to eat. But sometimes the greatest pleasure is simply to just walk around the pier admiring the sea view under the sky, especially when the sun is out and you can see everything reflected in the calm sea water.
